Has the bird got your tongue, we’ve been doing it all wrong Has the bird got your tongue It feels like we’ve been sleeping, bleary eyed awake. I can’t believe we were dreaming, when underneath we were wide awake. It’s coming It’s coming It’s coming Descended like a thin mist, altering our gaze A doubt that softly lingers. There’s nothing to hold onto, there’s no one inside. Just a place upon your island, you daren’t go back inside. Gotta open up your island, the birds are at your door. Stop holding onto reasons, we’ve been this way before. Gotta open up your island, the birds are at your door. Stop holding onto reasons, we’ve been this way before. It’s coming It’s coming It’s coming

If the weight of your heels Feels heavy and slow And the air feels tight around your chest When the warmth of your touch Toughens with time And you feel the space between your lives And slowly Open your eyes It’s not all a waste. If the weight of your heels Feels heavy and slow And the air feels tight around your chest If you loosen your grip And soften your gaze And you feel the lives within your life And slowly Open your eyes It’s not all a waste And slowly Untie your arms for a new embrace If the weight of your heels Feels heavy and slow And the air feels tight around your chest If you think of the field And loneliness comes close And you hear the voices at your back Come back home, come back Come back home, come back Come back home, come back Come back home, come back Come back home, come back Come back home, come back Won’t you pull on the string Tell ‘em that you’re there Tell ‘em you’re alive Tell ‘em that you’re there Won’t you pull on the string Tell ‘em that you’re there Tell ‘em you’re alive Tell ‘em that you’re there Won’t you pull on the string Tell ‘em that you’re there Tell ‘em you’re alive Tell ‘em that you’re there Won’t you pull on the string Tell ‘em that you’re there Tell ‘em you’re alive Tell ‘em that you’re there

about

Easier - (Vocal Versions) is a stripped back reimagining of Rick Leigh's debut EP Easier (March 25th 2022) which came out of his transformative experience of therapy and learning to re-navigate the relationship he has with himself and to reconnect with his body. This set of songs document themes of vulnerability, openness and new beginnings.

This vocal versions EP reimagines each song as an intimate muted upright piano arrangement. Rick then invited a special selection of singers to collaborate with him on each track. Singers included Kathleen Frances, Charlotte Spiral, Lydia Clowes and Blood Brother. Rick takes his minimalist and neo-classical sensibilities and melds them together with each vocalists unique sound. Each singer brings their own identity to each track and draws out new aspects and spaces
